TAIWAN: DAY TWO

Too drunk to give a decent update. After three cans and two large bottles of Taiwan beer, I can remember anything that happened today.

TAIWAN: DAY WAN

Flight out of Manila was delayed by a full hour. Like most other trips, I usually skip the meal before flying. No sense in getting a queasy tummy in a plane. But I was hungry, irritated, and without a smoke. Oh well... maybe I should rethink that strategy. Anyway, we board and the flight was relatively uneventful.

One thing I like in Taiwan is that almost everybody drives a Benz, a Beemer, a Porche. That sort of stuff. But I wasn't prepared for what was going to be my ride to Chungli. Just one of the perks of a supplier manager I guess. But who's complaining? :)

Anyway, here I am in the hotel room. Half naked, though I won't tell you which half. Another thing I like in Taiwan: DSL. Almost everybody's got DSL here and I've heard that it's even cheaper to get a DSL than a dial-up. I'll love it here. The DSL in the hotel is free, and I have my choice of wired or wireless access. Hay... this is the life. Kulang na lang dinala ko yung burner ko so I can download stuff. :) But waitaminit... I'm in Taiwan! That's stuff's supposed to be cheap here! Hmmm...

FRIDAY FIVE (KANYA-KANYA VERSION)

January 4, 2002 Friday Five

1. You've just won a complete collection of movies starring one actor - what actor would you pick?
Samuel Jackson. The actor with an attitude. Grabe... he would've made a very good Neo.

2. What was the last movie you saw in a theater?
First 50 Dates. Worth the money. Sobrang funny.

3. What was the last video or DVD that you bought?
Under the Tuscan Sun. Cute din na movie to.

4. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get sick of?
Aside from the Matrix series (hehehe), Love Affair.

5. How do you plan to spend your weekend?
I want to catch up on sleep. I've been spending a lot of time watching TV and it's taking a toll on me. I'm so tamad na to go to the office in the mornings. I also need to repair the toilet kasi nasira yung flush this morning. Nakakainis! I woke up to the sound of spraying water inside the bathroom. Akala ko kung ano na nangyari. Sayang lang yung water, ang mahal pa naman ng water sa condo.

NOT AGAIN

I interviewed for a job yesterday. The company is still within the same industry I'm in now; and the job, as I learned as the interview progressed, is roughly the same one I have. After 10 minutes of oral swordfight, it became apparent to me that I'm tired of what I'm doing. I'm bored already. I want out. I want to do something else.

I know I'm good at what I do. I know I have the potential to do a lot more than what I have now. For Christ's sakes, I'm even paying $300 every two months for a friggin MBA degree! Can't I just do something different? For a change?

GREEN WITH ENVY

My wife is such a sucker for Oprah's show. Her lifelong dream: to watch a live taping of Oprah and go home with the tons of goodies she gives away. So when we were watching Oprah's Favorite Things for Spring show, she was so depressed. She must've gave away close to $2000 worth of stuff on that show to each of the audience. And who wouldn't be jealous?! Here are the items she gave away....

Food Favorites
Picnic Backpack
Miss Rona's Lavender Applesauce
La Brea Bakery Granola

Beauty and Body Care
Decleor Vitaroma Body Sumptuous Anti-Aging Body Cream

What to Wear
Citrus Tote
Ribbon Crusher Hat
C and C California T-shirts
Daryl sandals by Coach
La Mystere Tisha Bra
Silhouette Minimal X Sunglasses
Adidas Mei Mind and Body Footwear
GAP Body Terrycloth Collection
Embroidered Tunic from Boston Proper
Spa Fleurs sandals
Thomas Pink Shirts

For Your Home
Roomba Floor Vac
Weber Q Grill and Cart

High-Tech Discoveries
Apple iPod 15-GB MP3 player
HP Digital Camer, Printer, and Dock

Hay grabe... Pati ako nainis!!! I want the MP3 player, the digital camera, and the floor vac! The Roomba's so cute pa naman. You just turn it on and let it loose on the floor and it'll automatically suck everything up. It'll find it's way everywhere on the house. Hay... wouldn't that solve our problem with sweeping the floors every now and then?
FIRST SHOT AT GMAIL

I haven't blogged in quite a while. Grabe... I am so swamped. I've got lots of issues in the office, I'm still working on my stalled automotive ISO project, and I'm having my visa rushed for my Taiwan visit next week. Too much stuff to do, too little time.

Anyway, logging into my blogger account, I found out that Blogger is giving loyal members a first peek into Gmail, the 1Gig email from Google. Let's see how this will go. Spymac isn't really that much good. Logging in is so slow, the user interface is so complicated. I still haven't figured out how to activate my blog and webpage account. What's 1Gig email and a few hundred MB's of webspace if Spymac can't even show newbies how to use it? Argh! I think it has potential, but since I'm on dialup, I guess I'll just pass for now.

April 06, 2004

WHAT IS SPYMAC?

That's where you get your free 1GB mail, free 250MB to upload your pictures, free 100MB space hosting, and free blog. You also get free iCal hosting and WebDAV access, whatever those are.

Ah basta ako, may 1GB mailbox na ko. Sana i-launch na rin ng Google yung kanila.

RANDOM THOUGHTS

1. I wanna have GMAIL!!! Google's still-in-development free email will have a whopping 1GB of space, a lot more than what Yahoo and Hotmail offers. Finally, I don't have to keep deleting email from everybody just because I won't fork over money to Yahoo and Hotmail! Just for that, I'll swear I'll never use Yahoo for search EVER!!

2. Eastwood Properties are now starting to sell condo units for The Grand Eastwood Palazzo. I decided to check the prices. Grabe, a 2-bedroom unit on the 25th floor facing the Citywalk complex would set a person back P4.5M! You'll have to pay an additional 500k if you want to have a parking slot!! Whoops... that's a bit too steep for us! Unless the US stock market weaves its magic yet again, dun muna kami sa condo ng pang-timawa.

3. My boss is coming over from Malaysia week after holy week. He's gonna spend three days with me. Hmm... how bad can it be? My critical indicators are missing the target; my TS16949 project is about, uhm, two months off; I haven't even read the spec he wanted me to revise... Time to stick my head in the sand?

4. Wala pa ring Friday Five. Second week in a row nang wala... :(

RAINBOW

fallin out fallin in
nothings sure in this world no no
breaking down breaking in
never knowing what lies ahead
we can really never tell it all no no

say goodbye say hello
to a lover or friend
sometimes we could never understand
why some things begin with just love
we can never have it all
no no no ohh

but oh, cant you see
that no matter what happens
life goes on and on
and so baby just smile
coz im always around you
and i'll make you see
how beautiful life is for you and me

take a little time baby
see the butterflie's colors
listen to the birds that sent to sing for me and you
can you feel me
this is such a wonderful place to me

even if there is pain now
everything will be alright
for as long as the world still turns
there will be night and day
can you hear me
there's a rainbow always after the rain

hittin high hittin low
win or lose you should go
yeah yeah
getting warm getting cold
weather can be so good or bad
but baby this is life so dont get mad
no no no

coz ohhh
can't you see
that no matter what happens
life goes on and on
and so baby just smile
coz im always around you
and i'll make you see
how beautiful life is for you and me

take a little time baby
see the butterflie's colors
listen to the birds that sent to sing for me and you
can you feel me
this is such a wonderful place to me

even if there is pain now
everything will be alright
for as long as the world still turns
there will be night and day
can you hear me
there's a rainbow always after the rain

life's full of challenges
not all the time we get what we want
but dont despair my dear
you'll take it each trial
and you'll make it through the storm
coz youre strong
my faith in you is clear
so i say once again
this world's beautiful
let us celebrate life that is so beautiful
so beautiful...

take a little time baby
see the butterflie's colors
listen to the birds that sent to sing for me and you
can you feel me
this is such a wonderful place to me

even if there is pain now
everything will be alright
for as long as the world still turns
there will be night and day
can you hear me
there's a rainbow always after the rain
